Ae dil hai mushkil

Friendship and love are two very similar emotions yet very different. They both help us live a better life but when friendship turns to love it could either get very bitter or not at all. Well Karan Johar's film "ae dil hai mushkil" is an appropiate representation of everything we go through when we're stuck between friendship and love.

Ayaan (Ranbir Kapoor) and Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) meet at a bar and soon become the best of friends. They decide to have a double date with their lovers where they both are cheated on. To have some fun and get over everything they decide to fulfill their filmy dreams and to travel to Paris and a couple other places. When Ayaan tries to tell Alizeh about how he is attracted to her, Alizeh meets her forever love Ali (Fawad Khan). Alizeh runs away with Ali and soon gets married to him. Ayaan, heartbroken decides togo back to London. On his way he meets the most beautiful Sabha (Aishwarya Rai Bachhan) and falls in love. From here the story is most abrupt and loses that magic one wishes to see.

Although Ranbir, Anushka and Aishwarya have done well in their parts, Fawad's role is minimal and gives him no scope to display his talent. The music truly is admirable but I do believe abrupt endings such as this one could be made much better. The first half of the movie is fun and enjoyable but really tapers post intermission. The movie could be enjoyed but like I've always felt a good movie must end well. A shout out to Pritam for the truly lovely music.

A movie review: Kapoor and Sons since 1921

"Expect it when you least expect it " This saying is what I would say the entire movie is based on.When I first heard that a movie called Kapoor and Sons was releasing I just thought about a happy story waiting to be watched and enjoyed by people, but believe me when I say although it is very enjoyable it may not be the happiest you have seen.

Kapoor and Sons is one of those family dramas where there is misunderstanding and jealousy between the brothers, favoritism by parents, father cheats on mother but for the sake of the grandfather everyone puts up a smile. But this doesn't last long as very soon all hell breaks loose and the family is shattered. After confronting her husband about an affair that has been going on for about a year the mother decides to deny all relations with him.Angry and frustrated the father drives away and dies in a car crash. This event completely changes things and both sons leave home to their own busy lives. After the grandfather begs them, they come home from their completely different lives to comfort their mother which leads to forgiveness and finally a truly happy family.

I would say that this movie is definitely a must watch. Occasional peppy songs and intense emotional
moments, Kapoor and Sons is well balanced and entertaining. Forget, forgive and accept this is the important lesson I learnt from the movie. Shout out to the performance of Fawad Khan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt.

A movie review : Wazir

Being attached to a board game isn't something new but using it as a tool for revenge is not heard of is it? I have always loved suspense thrillers and have never failed to enjoy them but 'Wazir' is one movie that has amazed me beyond description.

Daanish(Farhan Akhtar) is a brave cop who loses his four year old  daughter during a car chase. His wife(Aditi Rao Hydari) blames him for the death of the girl and wishes to be left alone. After losing everything he ever loved he attempts to commit suicide but is stopped by Pandit Omkarnath(Amitabh bachan) his late daughters chess teacher. Pandit Omkarnath not only teaches the game but has devoted his entire life to it. He is an amputee who himself lost his daughter when she supposedly fell down the stairs while she was teaching the welfare minister's daughter chess. Omkarnath doesn't believe it was an accident but a murder committed by the minister himself for reasons unknown. The plot has been very carefully laid out where Pandit Omkarnath with the help of 'Wazir' and the various tactics of chess lures Daanish into taking revenge for him in the process consciously sacrificing himself. Various secrets revealed and many shocks received the audience is sure to leave the theatre pleased.

Hats off to the director- Bejoy Nambiar and Writers-Vidu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat Joshi for a truly nail biting and brilliantly terrifying show. Watch it and I assure you, you will be sitting on the edge of your seat throughout the movie. Special mention to the star cast for bringing it up to the mark.
